Process during the Project II

Virtual Keyboard idea fail :( it should be work if the coding upload and just using any conductive object

That is my original idea for hacking the keyboard to make the virtual keyboard to replace the functionality of any six key from the computer... However, after I follow my research and start to get all components done, I start to try using the hacking usb connect to the computer (it is working actually, shows the on status for the board) But cannot see any reasons why upload the coding on Arduino and did not get any response.
The following circuit board idea for the virtual keyboard.

So let us start the second one, as tutor suggest me try to use the first project with the arduino - keyboard piano to get link with each other. But i thought might be change more functionality to create the good one.

Below two images are from the interactive generative art program called silk

Try to get some idea like the nice pattern created by user themselves was might a good idea

This is the second experiment for the solar led light... actually because of lack of the analog input/output
it could not work out either. I tried to work it out, but seems the 4051 multiplexer is a problem to solve about that. From the coding part, it only have one called value for the whole control, seems the button is quite easy but for the solar light panel, as notice last time, it depends on vary light condition.

After the fist approach failed, I continue try to work out the 4051 problem with the serial communication.  Time getting closer and closer so anything must be quick as possible.

Randomly, search around some nice project for MIDI keyboard, but it not work for my project since it use the piezo like i did for the last time. But this is i will use the sound produce by the Processing library so I start to look at SoundCipher library for more information and tutorial. There are plenty of the musical data visualization on the website but did not see too much for the 'real time'. I mean the real time in here is like they produce or drag one MP3 file into their project, so it is just like the function for the Windows Media Player or something else...

So I start to focus on the final idea... fix out 4051 serial communication problem, try to link it with the processing. And i made it.. and it seems not actually that hard to achieve once you know what their functionality does. Start to create some dynamics pattern or have movement pattern link with processing and arduino. I used soundcipher for the sound part created by the library itself, and led once you press the button you will get the light feedback from the processing.

Serial communication and something about today

So on today tuesday lecture, we have talked about something like Pure Data and several visualize graph program like Mac Developer for the Quartz Composer

FLOSS Manuals website for something about Pure Data

Several interfacing arduino link
http://playground.arduino.cc//Main/Interfacing

Forum for the arduino might have look: http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/board,12.0.html

nf.interactive for the Pure Data several tutorial
http://nf-interactive.blogspot.co.nz/

That video I watched it few times before, but just do not know what the software it used... Today we just talked about it... So i think with that help, it could improve my poor processing coding...

Getting start with the components

Above two images is the proposal I made for this project II.

So I just look around how to use the  soundchipher  library to produce the sound from the processing.

Here is the soundcipher for this processing library:
http://explodingart.com/soundcipher/tutorials.html

Before doing that, I would like to know what is the sturcture in the 4051, I have look the arduino playground about 4051 and from this site:

Some Precedent

18F44 (soundtrack revised) from Raven Kwok on Vimeo.

Just take a look around the processing idea, Here is one of my precedent video from Vimeo, it seems really organic form, and the 2d texture finally get into 3d form... really cool, maybe not just using the processing programme, and also use python or something else?

Circuit setup

Last time when i showing the interm presentation
Try to add one more on it but does not working... maybe try this for next time... there are only six analog pins on the Arduino uno board

Here we go, so basically that all the circuit part for the arduino, six solar panel+ one speaker, because we lack of analog pins, only six on the arduino uno board, and also as an instrument it could not possible just have these six keys, but it is prototype for the project idea, i think i already close to the final work. So after that i go into work with how it look like more interesting part... as i said on the last presentation, I probably will try to use the RGB LED to look more  attractive not just the functional prototype as we saw last time.

After a few days, i put one RGB LED light on the breadboard, and use some other coding for the experiment with the RGB, like the RGB LED light could do something follow with the music, below video is how it is working. So i think this should be work fine when i put the RGB coding into my one. But it does not working after i put into it, the logic part sounds quite messy,Or maybe I did not figure out the common anode or common cathode, the second one is how it does, and maybe recheck and debug the coding part.

so that is before my final result, it might be could not see the led light clearly, because maybe during take video time the light condition did not account inside... so sorry about that haha.

How to make looks have more funcitonality, yep... That is what i am asking about, so basically I get a picture frame, by using some material such as cardboard, foamboard and several tapes to make it looks 3 dimensions looking, looking beauty than last time presentation. And by looking the code for the tone, i figure out the correct sound... did not to confuse the user...

So that is how it is looks like at back and front, i just by using platics tape to hode the back for my breadboard, speaker, and lots of components behind, i thought it would be quite easy to just put like this, it could be easy for holding, so i did not soldering in it with the pcb board.

Research and Process during the Project 1

The video is before I start to use Arduino for hacking the solar light, and just try to understand the basic idea about how to hack the them. First i used the solar light and the buzzer I brought from shop to connect them together, but the thing if you do not put code into it. The solar led light will just turn up and buzzer will always buzz.
The arduino board that hacking with the solar LED light.

After that I have look the youtube channel, there was a person upload that video which helps great idea for the solar led light.
First one he just take apart the solar led light and second one is how to make them link together and also could use really cheap solar panel for batteries charger.

DIY for the toy?

Do,Re,Mi,Fa 4 keys for the instrument almost finish.

I used the transistor to build the solar light (it actually like the button, but you need light to control  it)working. So I will use the torch to help me to get the voice (Do,Re,Mi,Fa). Right now i just have these four tones, from the speaker (kiwi toys speaker) i found it is hard to distinguish the sound. Maybe because of the frequency is not like the piano sound such beauty sound.

Research for my interface

So today we final get our starting kit for the arduino, hopefully all my plan was basically like the timeline plan.

Have a deep research for the LED walk path light

Here! is the basic tutorial show me about the principle for the PIR motion sensor.

Today's tutorial work.

There is also one of good example to show proximity sensor for the project. Might be give me some idea about distance between the user and interface. I could tried to use that kind of idea to put on the my  project. The link about the proximity.

So here is my rough concept for the 251 first project and several sketches about the idea what i am thought.
